The 1959 Soviet postage stamp series “Animals” was part of a larger thematic collection dedicated to wildlife and nature conservation. These issues reflected the era’s growing interest in natural sciences and showcased the rich diversity of the country’s fauna.

Artists portrayed animals in their natural environments with striking realism: the stamps feature a tiger, hazel hen and other species native to the Soviet lands.
